Saturday: After a relaxed preparation Joey started to develop a problem with his shoulder after half an hour practice warm up. During his first match against Mark Walsh it really bothered Joey and he struggled to get his darts in the board and was in no time 5-0 down….
Joey did not give up and trying to relax and take the pressure off his shoulder as much as possible he started to get back in to the match. Leg by leg he clawed his way back and managed to turn the match around into an incredible 6-5 victory. Unfortunately this had taken it’s toll and he lost in the second round 6-2 against an in form Lee Pallfreyman.
Sunday: After a bit of treatment Joey’s shoulder was much better and he was ready for his match against Mervin King. With high scoring and some excellent finishing it was 3-3 in no time. After missing one dart on tops to break Mervin, it happened the other way around when Mervin finished 81 for a 12 dart leg with Joey waiting on 36. Mervin won his own leg after this and won the match 6-3. A very good and exiting match that could have gone either way.
Monday starts the preparation for Barnsley coming weekend.
